There are multiple currencies to get familiar with. Whether you're unlocking new Stratagems or upgrading ship modules, you'll find that not everything uses the same currency. Here are the ones you'll need to know and what exactly they can do:

- Coordination and strategy: The game is made for co-op and synergizing with your squad is important, and it feels good when you successfully equip needed items based on the mission Negatives:

As you complete missions, collect loot from points of interest on the galaxy's battlefields, and earn XP, you'll level up and get various currencies that allow you to unlock new weapons and armor pieces.

There’s really not much to explain upfront. It’s the future, and Earth – now known as Super Earth – considers itself under threat from alien monsters on distant planets – planets that just happen to be rich in mineral deposits. You start out with a basic spaceship and a rudimentary warrior, then you select a world to visit and a mission to undertake, then touchdown on the surface to begin educating the locals in the joys of militarised democracy.

has been released, providing the first idea of what to expect from the title in terms of combat and content. Intense violence and blood and gore suggest that combat will be more brutal than the previous Helldivers title from eight years ago, but the release of a rating suggests that a release date or announcement for the game could be pretty imminent.

As it is now, it is an entertaining action spectacle that is definitely best when played with others. Despite the repetitiveness, I have had a lot of fun with it and I look forward to diving into new planets to save humanity.

Use your map to find Points of Interest. When you set off on a mission, you'll get quite a bit of time to complete it, so if you want to make the most of a planet, don't beeline for the main mission. Instead, take the time to explore it thoroughly.

The console version of Helldivers 2 can be purchased digitally or from physical game retailers like Amazon or Walmart, while the PC one is available digitally from Steam, Amazon, and the reselling site GreenManGaming (you'll get a Steam code with the latter two).

makes perfect sense as the basis for a video game — even if it spent a few years with the original novel’s jingoism being mistaken as an endorsement.

The good news is that, even if content is light initially, what I played of it was more than enough to get me excited about laughing with friends as we blast our way through killer robots, and I can’t wait to play more.

It’s Katherine, Arrowhead’s social media and community manager, back again to bring you new Helldivers 2 gameplay details: a more in-depth look at our cooperative play* and combat.

Your strategy also depends on which mission you’re taking on, and you do need to consider your armor alongside your weapons. As stated in the co-op and combat trailer, each mission will require specific load-outs which are worth considering, so you’ll need to get really familiar with your available equipment in order to successfully take down any larger enemies.

It's still a tense, communication-based game, but it feels designed to generate memorable gameplay - and I think it succeeds. Both the PS5 and PC versions of Helldivers 2 provide a good experience, and the game is attractive enough for a large-scale multiplayer shooter. I would like to see some additional features on PC though: temporal upsamplers are a must-have in my opinion, and Helldivers 2 Gameplay frame generation would be great as well. The 1080p resolution on PS5 in performance mode is bound to be a source of controversy too, but I think it's a sensible trade-off given how taxing this game can be. Perhaps experimentation with FSR 2 might yield decent results, especially considering the unimpressive quality of the existing TAA, but this is a tough game to run at high resolutions. So Helldivers 2 is a compelling multiplayer package, and it's technically sound as well. Players looking for a fresh co-op experience are unlikely to be disappointed.

With a squad of 4, you can optimize your group’s loadouts as well as giving each other designated roles for what weapons and equipment to use for each mission. It’s a game that’s definitely worthy of your time and money, as I think this game is for everyone to enjoy. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to join the Helldivers and become a hero.
